Who am I?

Hi, I’m Mae Beck! I’m a Learning Experience Designer based in Phoenix, Arizona with over 10 years of experience in design, people management, and learning and development. I create learning that feels human — experiences that connect people, purpose, and performance.

My career didn’t start in corporate learning — it started in a tattoo studio. As a tattoo apprentice and freelance graphic designer, I learned how to listen deeply, translate ideas into visual stories, and design with emotion and intent. Those same principles guide my work today: every learning experience I create tells a story, builds confidence, and helps people grow.

Outside of Work

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me drawing, exploring local markets, or rewatching Studio Ghibli films. I’m also a proud pet parent to one very curious cat and an endlessly loyal dog who both keep life entertaining and full of personality.

When I’m not designing or covered in pet fur, I love to travel — discovering new places, art, and food always sparks new creative energy for me. I’m also a bit of a bookworm; there’s usually a fantasy-related read on my nightstand (and probably a growing to-be-read stack nearby). Whether it’s through art, travel, or a great story, I’m always chasing inspiration and new perspectives that I can bring into my work.

My Journey

After moving from the art and design world into customer support leadership, I discovered how much I loved helping people learn. Coaching and training my teams became the best part of the job. That curiosity eventually led me to pursue learning and development full-time — designing programs that blend creativity, strategy, and empathy.

Over the past decade, I’ve led onboarding, designed scalable eLearning, and developed cross-functional training initiatives for companies like Amazon One Medical, Spin (Ford Motor Company), and Uber Technologies. Across every role, my focus has stayed the same: design learning that supports people, solves real problems, and drives performance.

Empathy First

I design with learners, not just for them.

Data-Informed Design

I measure impact and continuously iterate to ensure real results.

Creativity with Purpose

Every visual, interaction, and story serves the learner’s experience.

My Design Philosophy

I believe the best learning experiences are built with empathy and intention. My process starts with understanding — who the learners are, what challenges they face, and what success looks like for them. From there, I use design thinking, storytelling, and data to create experiences that feel meaningful and actionable.

My Work Values

Empathy Always

Great learning starts with understanding people. I design with the learner in mind, so experiences feel personal, inclusive, and effective.

Collaboration Over Ego

I treat every project as a partnership with SMEs, stakeholders, and learners. Diverse perspectives lead to stronger, more creative solutions.

Creativity with Purpose

My background in design and art taught me that creativity isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s about clarity and connection. Every visual, interaction, or story I design has a reason for being there: to make learning more engaging and meaningful.

Continuous Growth

I’m passionate about learning — not just designing it. I seek out new tools, research, and techniques that challenge me to grow and evolve. Every project is an opportunity to experiment, reflect, and refine my craft.

Integrity & Impact

For me, success isn’t just delivering a beautiful course — it’s creating something that actually makes a difference. I care deeply about designing experiences that empower learners, drive performance, and support long-term change.
